The bike will ride singletrack SO much better with lower gearing.
I fit a 51 rear for pure singletrack, bike will idle along at waling speeds, which is great when having to clear logs ect, and 2nd is very usefull in the tight stuff, and no need to rev the gears totally out, to have the next gear pull clean.
Some find the stock bike makes more low end torque, for me, it definatly helped with opening the airbox and adding a pipe.
The dynosheets I've seen seems to show more torque all across the rpm range with a modded bike with fuelcontroller, airbox mods and a different exhaust
