| i was going about fifty and out of the corner of my eye, i can see something running on the bank beside me. the timing was perfect, he came off the bank and straight across in front of me. i hit the bobcat perfectly in the middle with both tires. nothing happened to me or the bike, but the beautiful cat was doing the funky chicken on the road and then died. i told him that i was sorry for taking his life and i put him under a tree. just missed a deer, those deer?? | |

| Oh man, nasty speedbump! I hit a small dog on mine, same kinda scenario. Stupid Jack Russell's...Glad you're ok, that could have been ugly for you. I know it sucks, but better the cat than you under the tree. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

just missed a deer, those deer?? Glad you kept the bike up! Can you guesstimate the weight of Bob? (I've read males only go up to 30 lbs, females less) Best to keep missing the deer. I've hit 2. One at its hips, one right in the middle. Bike & I went pavement surfing both times.

| Never hit a big cat, myself (I can't remember seeing one around here, though I'm told they're around), but I've sent my aunt's dog break dancing, have squashed countless squirrels, and have hit two deer.
First deer was on my 1990 DT-200R at night. Typical situation: Thing jumped out onto the road at the last second and ran straight at me. I hit it square and we both went down. I bonked my helmet off the pavement and was a bit dizzy for a few seconds as I slid along the road, and when I stopped sliding, I remember wanting to get my hands around the deer's neck and squeeze it tightly. It got up and ran off before I could do that. :)
Second time was on my 2003 Yamaha FZ-1, a 1,000cc sport bike. Once again it jumped out straight at me, so late and quickly that I didn't see it, and the only way I knew I'd hit something was when the handlebars flinched in my hands. I turned around to see that had happened and saw the little fella laying dead - it's little furry head slammed into my fork leg, bent the end of my radiator with it's fuzzy ears, brushed the shin guard of my boot with it's little nose, and put a small dent into my muffler canister with it's cranium. I was glad I was able to ride the bike home to make repairs. :)

| I'm sure it was a decendant as it was the same street within 3/4 mile. :) | |

2003 on a 2000 Suzuki SV650S. $400 bike fix because I made it into a street fighter. I couldn't walk for a couple of weeks and was going around in wheelchair circles due to a broken clavicle. 2009 on my 2009 Triumph 675 Street Triple R. Rode it home 1300 kms, $900+ to fix if I keep dented gas tank and 'rashed' engine covers. I damaged ligaments (but no tears thankfully) for the other clavicle. 'Stich did its job: wore through 2 layers exposing shoulder pad hard shell - slid whole way on my shoulder, would have been nasty without protection!

It got up and ran off before I could do that. :) I hear you! (both my hits ran off too.) Out for a winter walk in the woods (Greenbelt for you Ottawans) I got within about 10' of 3 deer (I guess locals had been feeding them?) I was tempted to punch one (remember that horse in Blazing Saddles?), but I was outnumbered.

| Uh huh... Right. The deer's equivalent of hazing for the one-percenters patch. | |
