*turns bright red*..................
At Daytona it was a nice change to see a women in leathers, racin', rather than in a cute miniskirt in front of the starting grid (ok - I like to see 'em too *grin*)
As a runner I'm frequently handed my ass by a member of the fairer sex, who vocally mention during a marathon that it's waaaaay easier than childbirth ( I'm takin' their word for it, marathons hurt though !!....)
Women generally do better in long distance events, where mental toughness & endurance rather than raw strength come into play.
From the 100 meter sprint to the marathon, men have the advantage, but, as distances get longer, women catch up. In some ultramarathons, such as the Badwater Ultra - a 135 mile footrace held in Death Valley in the summer a woman has finished first several times, beating all the men...and the other women.
Just sayin'.....................
