Moto Piston Rally, Oct 2010 Spain

On Wednesday morning I am off to Spain on the WRX for the Moto Piston Rally:-

I have wanted to see this event this for a few years now so, hitting 55 tomorrow, I decided this year was the year to to do it!

I live in the south of the UK and I cannot claim to be ready for the Iron Butt award so, bearing in mind that Mapsource says its 940 miles by road from my house to the hotel in northern Spain, I have taken the easy option:-

Home to ferry port 52 miles
24 hours on ferry to northern Spain
Ferry port to Spanish hotel 20 miles

Obviously a no-brainer especially as the weather here is taking a turn for the worst.

Anyway packing tomorrow with my new Wolfman Expedition Dry saddlebags and a Givi box on VWSandmans mount should give me enough luggage space to get to the hotel. Then Givi box off, the Wolfman tail bag on and into the Picos Mountains for a bit of exploring. And plenty of time to follow the rally and ogle the old bikes taking part.

I will take photos and do an RR on my return as I wont have internet access whilst away. I really enjoy reading the RRs that others have made the effort to do, so I am determined to do my bit. Looking forward to the mountains!
