| I have been looking and trying to figure out if the WR450F headlight assembly will fit with little to no modification? [img] [/img] | |

| I think it looks 100x better than the plain square one we have and the parts are fairly cheap. i wouldn't think that it would be much different just wondering if anyone has any info or personal experience. | |

| I think the only issue would be DOT requirements for us here in the USA. The enduro headlight may not have the same ability to illuminate as the square DOT headlamp or may not pattern the light in the correct area to keep from blinding oncoming traffic if you ride on the street. Bulb lumen output may be different between the two as well. | |

| I believe they do not have a high-beam. Also they are not DOT approved.
Other than that, I really wanted to get these also. I'm sure you can get some kind of dual-filament bulb set-up.
BTW that bike is Mtbike (forget his sig) and I asked him about it. He said it was quite easy to get it installed.
I really wanted the black headlight, but I believe that only came in asia/europe.

Ah... my bike! For those who are interested in getting rid of the stock headlight, here are some tips 1. It was in BLUE... I used krylon to spray it black 2. It does come with both hi/low beams 3. The top mounting points are at the same level as the stock, just that the WR-F headlight is wider at the top... some spacers will do the trick 4. The bottom will need some magic to secure it (Cable ties! ) 5. The WR-F headlight uses a different connector... there are several ways to achieve the same effect... But I chose to wire a H4 adapter to the headlight so that I can plug and unplug easily Let me dig out some photos if I can find EDIT: As promised... the spacer thingie... These are just to hold the signal lights

| Thanks for the great info and tips.
How is the Krylon spray holding up? Did you have to sand down the plastic or just spray on? Do you have a part number for that H4 adapter?
Love the headlight and color scheme!

| My pleasure :) 1. How is the Krylon spray holding up? A: Not so bad... I crashed a few times on the track and it is still there... (PS: I sprayed the plastic pump guards that WR-R comes with, and they are all well too ) 2. Did you have to sand down the plastic or just spray on? A: I think it is not necessary, but I did it anyway If I have left the plastic to dry for a longer period of time, I believe the results will be much better 3. Do you have a part number for that H4 adapter? A: Sorry mate, I just went to an auto-parts store and asked for a H4 converter/extender... I doubt there was even a part number as it looked cheap | |

| Your bike looks awesome! The headlight really looks like it belongs....
Looks like you may be able to use the stock WR450f bracket to mount the headlight P/N: 5UM-2831V-E0-00 STAY, HEAD LIGHT 1 (instead of using making your own stand-off). ~$3.50 part... look up the WR450f or fx parts microfiche under "steering"
The W4R450f stock headlight mounting bracket bolts to the front shock clamps and goes straight to the wider headlight mount location (flat metal sheet, no angles). The WR250x/r clamp is bent with two 90deg angles to adapt down allow the narrower stock headlamp of the WR250x/r assembly to bolt on.
Very tempting! Looks like ordering all the factory parts to convert the headlamp would be just over $200.

| How well does the WR450f headlight illuminate the road at night compared to the stock headlamp?
WR250x/r bulb - 12V-60/55W WR450f bulb - 12V35/36.5
I'm guessing that the 60/55W and 35/36.5 are the high-beam/low-beam powers?
The WR450f bulb looks like it has two alignment "tits"... the WR250 bulb has only one.
Thanks! | |

| You can always install a Hi-low Hid Kit that will help you with lighting. I just installed the kit in about an hour and looks great | |

| mtb, a little OT, but did your Pro Taper bar mounts fit w/o modification? If so do you know the model? I got a no name set and the stud is too long and the threaded portion is too short to just cut. Thanks. | |

| Hi Guys, I did a quick fit up of the WR450 headlight on my WR250x. I really like the look of this headlight and am looking forward to mounting it. The OEM WR450 bracket pieces I mentioned in a post above are not a drop in replacement. I will have to make my own. The lower mount points are also different between the two headlights... but with a little work, it should mount reasonably cleanly on our front fender. The WR450 headlight is not DOT approved and does not readily accept the wr250x headlight bulb. Does anybody have any recommendations for a good quality low+high beam HID kit??? Thanks! | |

| This is the kit I use for my ducati.
http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/Apexcone-Raptor-HID-Kit
It is not the most expensive. It is not top of the line...
But for the price you cannot beat it. I did a lot of research and a lot of motorcycle ppl use this kit and works great.
There are a lot of HID reviews and the DDM kits always get high marks.

| Awesome! Thank you for the HID bulb+ballast recommendation. Looks like DDM Tuning has great prices.
55 Watt, 4500 Kelvin, H6M bulb, kit with relay harness costs $62.50 (and comes with two bulbs and two ballasts!)
The 2007+ WR450 headlight uses a H6M sized bulb (smaller than our WR250x bulb).
Need to figure out if the wiring in our bikes can support the HID start-up current with the 50W bulb.

| I use the 35w version on my ducati and it works fine. I had heard that the 55w can be a drain on start-up for the ducati's. I am not sure how they would fair on a WR250x.
The 35w was plenty since it was HID. Remember not to get a bulb color that is too high in temp. The higher the temps, the less usable light there will be.
I bought the 6000k. If you go much higher the light will be less useful. FYI

| I would like to do this mod as well, looks way better then the "I've just escaped from the 80s" OEM look.
Questions:
1. My WRX is black, I found an online store that sells a full OEM black kit for the WRF (in Australia) but couldn't find one that sells just the headlight faring. does anybody know of one? 2. If I don't go with a black one and instead I'll buy a blue one and paint it using Krylon spray (not available here, will have to order one online), will it look like original black plastic or painted plastic? 3. Is it possible to mount a Hi/Lo HID kit in the WRF headlight?
Thanks,
Assaf | |
