What's your MPG like?

Just curious what kind of mileage other folks are getting. I've been hearing some impressive MPGs, that I don't seem to be getting.

So, how many MPG are you getting AND what is your riding style like while you got it.

I don't ever seem to be getting better than 45 MPG ... I can go almost 90 miles on the 2.1 gallon stock tank. I'm usually on the throttle/powerband quite a bit and on 90% dirt, but it's not like I'm racing either.

Also, what's the furtherst you have gone with the fuel light on?

Must be deep sand and wide open to get that low.

I'm at 13T on the front sprocket, but other than that, mostly stock.

My fuel light comes by 70 miles, but has come on as early as low 60s, but that's not as typical.

Definitely some sand, and I'm not wide open, but we do go kinda fast.

Sounds like on those long stretches where I need more MPG, if I lay off a bit, I should get much more mileage. I'll have to experiment with that.

Maybe I missed it, but in those other links, I didn't see where anybody said how long they rode with their fuel light on. I've gone aboyut 17-18 miles and still had a little left.

My light comes on around 75 miles, and then I put 1.3 gallons in, so I assume I have .6 gallons left (California tanks have 1.9 gallons, I guess).

I also have a bigger rear sprocket (4 more teeth). Mostly dirt, medium riding style on part flat terrain part technical terrain.

Might need a bigger tank. We'll see...

How long one can ride with reserve light on obviously depends on that persons individual gas mileage.

I typically get 55-ish miles per gallon.

Light comes on with about half a gallon left in tank.

Theoretically that means I should be able to go about 27.5 miles before I start pushing.
Never thought pushing a motorcycle just for the fun of it was my calling in life so I have not seen exactly how far I can go.

I have gone about 22 miles with the light on.

Typically....I don't go past 10 miles with light on. Where I live there's no real reason "push" the limits. (pun intended...)

Yeah, 10 miles is about as far as I like to go on the fuel light too.

I suspect I get much better MPG when the fuel light comes on - always makes me a little nervous and I back way off on the throttle.

It's amazing how much of a "hypermiler" you become when the prospect of pushing becomes a possibility... :)

I have checked my tank (IMS 3.1) several times and when the lite comes on I have .6 gallons left !! Berwyn
