China Lake 350 Empty
PostSubject: China Lake 350   China Lake 350 EmptyThu Nov 25, 2010 2:54 pm

This is a dual sport event held out in California about 3 hours North of Los Angeles. It's a big figure eight loop, with the bottom loop circling the Navy Base in the area, and the upper loop goes around Owens Lake and crossing the Inyo Crest. Day 1 was around 195 miles, and Day 2 was around 165 miles. Lots of great desert scenery. In fact, most of the photos are scenery shots from the ride, but a few have some really tiny riders in them ;-)

There was a really neat Salt Tram on The Inyo Crest. It was used from 1910-1930s to transport salt from 7000 feet below in Saline Valley on the east, to 5000 feet below in Owens Valley on the West:

Well this takes me home. Give us advance notice next year. I'm a sucker for Ridgecrest / China Lake runs.

Thanks guys, glad you enjoyed the photos!

feetz,
I just use Canon powershot for those trips. Nice and light and easy to carry around and it takes surprisingly good pics some times.

Boondocker,
They have this ride every year in early Nov (although next year it might be in Oct). It's a great ride - definitely worth checking out at least once.

Here's a link to D37 Event Calendar, which has that ride: http://www.district37ama.org/dualsport/ridingevents.php
