Oh Yeah!
You can buy that sticker kit on Ebay.
Yeah, but the bright yellow plastic?
There was a pic of a WR in Japan a couple of years ago, special edition or something. Absolutely brilliant yellow/black graphics which brought tears to the eyes of some of us who raced with those colors way back when many here were just puppies or not even a gleam in their daddy's eye. I loved the Bumblebee look in a way that I never could get excited about the earlier red and silver and white jobs.
Ah yes...
Unfortunately, if I remember the commentary that went with the post, Yamaha was guarding access to the plastic and decals like it was the crown jewels.
It's not like Yamaha is unaware that a bunch of us remember the days when manly men rode yellow and black Yammies. They did this just a few years ago:
Sooner or later some aftermarket company is going to take a shot at selling a complete replacement plastic and decal package with the old colors, not just a modern interpretation of the Bumblebee Look. I am not into doing a Krylon spraypaint job and seeing how long it takes to start falling off.
And they're going to sell like hotcakes, especially to grumpy old men like me. Your "old school" is my "That's the way Yamaha's are supposed to look".
My theory is black and yellow will make me younger and go faster.
