| If you find an aftermarket tach you like they usually trigger from the negative side of the coil and can be set for all configurations. Singles, twins etc. Very easy to hook up.. Being you can get into the diagnosis area you can also fit a digital if you can find one. | |

I don't miss having a tach. I raced motocross for years on bikes with no rev limiters and no tachs. I don't think that's changed. This bike makes it's best power at the top end - 10,000 rpm -and has a rev limiter just above that. Assuming I want to ride at the best performance point of the engine, then just ride below the rev limiter. If I'm riding the bike to it's maximum capability, I'm probably not really interested in looking down at a tach anyways. Do they still teach "Look there, go there; look down; go down"? But that's just me. And, come to think of it, I don't believe the racier "F" models have a tach either.

If you have those two you'll be fine. _________________ 2008 WR250X Gearing: 13t - 48t Power Commander 5 / PC-V Airbox Door Removed - Flapper glued - AIS removed FmF Q4 Bridgestone Battlax BT-003rs

| Yep, good points, I've ridden/raced dirt bikes for years with no tach/rev limiters. I was thinking along with the speedometer, a tach would be a better option than the clock. | |

| Didn't someone once post that if you mount your FmF or Attitude EFI programmer on your handlebars where you can see it, the lights on the programmer act like a pseudo tachometer when riding?

| Yeah, someone did do that. Personally i don't like leaving shit like that out in the open where it can get ripped off. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

| That's why I had to ask. Mine's tucked away under the seat. Can't see what the lights are doing. _________________ 2008 WR250X Gearing: 13t - 48t Power Commander 5 / PC-V Airbox Door Removed - Flapper glued - AIS removed FmF Q4 Bridgestone Battlax BT-003rs

| I keep repeating this, but anyway; There is a hidden tach in the WR250R/X ,it's in CO mode, you can ride in this mode no worries

Do a search for more info, it ain't a black art to get to CO mode, easy when you know how

| yes - you can ride in co mode...can you read speed in that mode?
Speed is kind of important. Cops seem to care more about speed than rpm.
Now if you're riding off-road....have at it. _________________ 2008 WR250X Gearing: 13t - 48t Power Commander 5 / PC-V Airbox Door Removed - Flapper glued - AIS removed FmF Q4 Bridgestone Battlax BT-003rs

| yes I guess that's important I agree it would be nice to have a speedo with the tach but if you have an iphone (with MotionX) or GPS you them for a speedo | |

Now if you're riding off-road....have at it. For people that ride with their GPS on, speed is indicated on it. Beside it's even better than the stock one. Anyway I also believe that a tach is mostly usefull for adjustments. Once done we get used to our bike and don't look at the tach anyway.

Care to share a little more info on this? Well, let's see... Will that work? Neat thing is I can take it off and tune up my power saws with it when they start acting up. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.'

| You could get an hr meter with a tack option and mount it like Shewolf did with her Stihl unit. | |

| Yamaha also shows a generic tach in their 2011 catalogue which they say fits all bikes. Don't recall the cost. | |

| I found this option which I'm planning to install. It's hard finding a waterproof dial tach with a high enough redline < $100, but here it is. I think the next cheapest option is a bare autometer gauge @ $250. All you dial lovers have at it! http://www.demonscycle.com/Electrical-Components/MINI-Tachometer-with-p6759140-2-1.html | |
