One thing that can greatly help with planning an adventure tour - be it for just a long day through some memorable country, an overnight out and back, or a full fledged multi-day ride - is being able to download the tracks and routes provided by others who have done the ride before. Some of those rides go on to become well known epics - the TAT, for example. And some riders become well known creators of rides.
What is needed is a warehouse containing all these saved routes, preferably in one place, available for searching and downloading. And hopefully, a place where you can upload and share your outstanding rides as well.
The good news is, such a site exists. Several, in fact. Two in particular stand out, both very good, but both with slightly different strengths and weaknesses. So without further ado, here are links to the two sites I use for uploading my tracks for others to download and ride if they wish.
Hopefully, those of you with tracks from your tours, whether it is just a spectacular day ride or a multi-week ride in another country, will contribute to the dual sport ride warehouse.
A handy incidental benefit of these websites is they allow you to embed maps of your rides in ride reports.
So, two sources of dual sport ride information:
Dual Sport Maps - Ride Where You Want To
GPSies - Tracks For Vagabonds
Enjoy!
And contribute...
