Throw this engine into the latest KTM chassis like the XC250, and I would pay $10k for it. | Yeah, I'd pay $10,000 for a WRR like that! | | 6% | [ 2 ] | Not a chance. | | 94% | [ 31 ] |

| Husaberg FE 570S is what I am buying at that price point soon but keeping the WR as well. No need to clutch up the Berg! | |

| I saw a really cool writeup of a Husaberg modded up for serious, ride the world trips. But they aren't road legal like a WR as is, are they?
Lots of jurisdictions these days you can't plate a motorcycle manufactured for offroad use, no matter what you do to make it compliant, they don't care. The VIN is the deciding factor.
Raises a lot of problems if the end game is a legal dual sport motorcycle.

| The FE 570 is street legal from the factory. As well as the FS 570 (supermoto). | |

I was looking at the Husaberg website to check out the bike buddy made into his "around the world, endlessly" bike. Didn't see any that appeared to be street legal. Ah... here's why; go to the enduro splash page: http://www.husaberg.com/Enduro.9.8.html Not a mirror or light to be seen. Different story once you click on the model. The FE 390 and 450 don't show any street legal gear, but the 570 does. Never got that far with the clicking.

| The only FE that was legalized was the 570. New this year for 2011. Closed cartridge forks, 6 speed, said to be the smoothest FI going and it is just overall trick as hell. Google my dealer, Tasky's Metric Cycles in Everett wa. | |

Funny story about the Berg 570 - I was riding in a dual sport ride last October. It was an 80 mile day of tight ST that was basically an enduro without the time checks. I had stopped momentarily to contemplate my line up a pretty good size sand hill. Plus, I needed a short break. I heard a bike approaching and as I looked back I see a guy on a FE 570 with a girl on the back. He motored right up that hill passing every bike along the way. I was absolutely amazed that a guy riding 2 up on Berg had made me and everyone else look like complete amateurs. Not that we aren't but you get the idea. Later, I came to find out it was Mike Lafferty (AMA National Enduro Champion) riding on his sponsored Husaberg with his girlfriend on the back our for a 'leisurely' ride. I didn't feel so bad then.

| Cool! Did you see passenger pegs? The wr250r is awesome and I love it but that Berg has got to be a trip to ride! I want to ride a Sherco DS too but KTM mods for the Berg for the most part. Oh crap, must resist... | |

I don't remember seeing passenger pegs but I assume the bike had them. She looked pretty comfortable and relaxed back there.

| Trivia... Husaberg was founded by the former Husky engineers left without a job when Cagiva bought the Husky brand in 1988. Husky has changed hands a few times since then I know. Husky was sewing machines originally i think. | |

| Now that i totally hijacked this thread and i will now go to my laptop with FlashPlayer to get the humour sorry Jaeger.
From wiki:
Husqvarna
Husqvarna was a military arsenal founded in 1689 to produce muskets for the Swedish Army. The companies have since grown and split and the brand is used by several companies. Husqvarna may refer to:
Husqvarna Vapenfabriks Aktiebolag, the original company manufacturing small arms. Husqvarna Motorcycles, now a subsidiary of BMW, is a motocross and enduro motorcycle manufacturer. Husqvarna AB, a company that produces lawn equipment and chainsaws. Husqvarna Sewing Machines Husqvarna is a brand name for home appliances manufactured by the Electrolux Group. Husqvarna is the old spelling of the town now known as Huskvarna, the original location of the company.

Chief.... Husqvarna Vapenfabriks Aktiebolag... Weapons since 1689 Elegant sheep hunting rifles... although this one is in 358 Norma Magnum, another Swiss invention Hajji hunting rifles... Tank hunting rifles... (and corvettes if you're a Royal Marine) Affectionately known to those who tasked to carry this 37 lb glorified piece of sewer pipe as "The Carl G". Now made again by another Swedish company Saab Bofors I always hated jumping that thing - they strap it to your leg as well as to your body. If things go bad in your exit, you are pretty much fecked. Husqvarna didn't make it's first motorcycle until about 1903 or 1904. The Singer Sewing Machine company made 1911's. And Garand rifles. And the famous Norden bomb sight. But I don't think they ever made motorcycles...

Looks like a G3 to me - Husqvarna made G3 variants? And IBM from typewriters , Rock-ola from Jukeboxes, to M1 Carbines... but no motorcycles! Slightly thread creep but SARCO was selling repro leather jeep/bike scabbards for Garands years ago. Fit that on your WR?

I used to lust after the Husqvarna WR motorcycles back in the day... local guy who mentored lots of kid riders was the distributor... kind of sold them out of his basement on an 'as ordered' basis. Were WAY beyond my pay grade, but I got lots of rides and dreamed a lot. Torlief Hansen and Bengt Aberg were hard core in the early 70's.... They were at the head of the class back then. Our WRs would have them for lunch. But still...
