| Check this out, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKx2MQ1zd10 they rated the WR the best in everything except price. It's going to be mostly rider preference when you get down to it though. | |

If you ride in sand 60% of the time and are coming from your previous bike, neither of these bikes is going to make you very happy in comparison. You sound like a candidate for a bigger bike.

| I have a bunch of friends that have the KLX. It's a good bike, but the WRR is better hands down. What you must realize is the compromise that is made to have a street legal, super reliable bike from the factory. | |

| There really isn't a comparison between the KLX and the WR. I'm not saying that because I own a WR, I'm going on that because the WR is so much more advanced. Even a Kawi dealer/owner said the WR kicked ass on the KLX and said it was a far superior bike. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

| WR all the way no comparison. I have been riding the absolute crap out of this bike....long freeway rides almost everyday...pinging off the rev limiter constantly...generally riding it like a CR80 2 stroke everyday and it just keeps on ticking. I ride mile long 4th gear wheelies on the freeway constantly and the speedo reads anywhere between 70 and 76...this bike is incredible for a 250. My skills have improved sooo much and I have reached a level that I always wanted when I was young...dream come true really. Gopro vids will be coming soon!!! Oh I got lost for a second there sorry :) Buy The Yamaha |

| It's been compared more along the lines to the DRZ400, really...and even then it's taken those Suzi owners away. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

| WR is fuel injected vs. KLX carb.
END - OF - STORY.
Get the WR. She Wolf is spot on. The only Q is WR vs. DRZ.

| The WR250R is the superior motorcycle, the KLX250 is the superior value. Both are extremely competent and will take you anywhere you want with light weight and decent to very good performance on all types of terrain and riding. When I was first looking, I felt the bigger alternator, fuel injection, wider gear box, arguably better stock suspension, and more power were worth the additional $800 or so new vs. new, especially with using mine as a go-anywhere in any weather machine.
With the WRR now priced at $6400 and the KLX still at $5000 and especially with bunches of still new KLX's sitting in dealerships for $3999 and such, the decision would be less clear if I had to start new today. In the end I'd probably still take the WRR as I commute and do a decent amount of highway work where you really miss the extra hp and lack of fiddling from fuel injection (plus the ability to run heated gear in winter), but if I just needed a bike to dual sport and play on, I might just go green.

| The KLX250 is tiny. I believe it was the 08 - 10's that had the suspensions shortened. I'm not sure if If they changed it back in 2011 to what they were in 2007. If you're vertically challenged then that would be OK I guess. Otherwise, add another strike to the KLX250 for short suspension with 1 1/2 inches less travel. | |

| When I bought my bike (when I was looking), I went to a Yamaha/Kawasaki dealer. The KLX and WR were side by side in the showroom. The salesman (who actually knew quite a bit and was an ex-motorcross racer) said that the dealership sold 3 WR's to every KLX, and that was with the KLX being $1,000 cheaper. The Fuel injection and ergonomics and just the quality of the WR sold me. And that was comparing them side by side. I then went home and did my research online and the WR always beat the KLX in 90% of the categories. That being said, I almost didn't have enough $$$ to get the WR but I was able to shuffle some $$$ around to make it possible.
And besides, why would you go to the WR forum, and ask such a silly question???

| I have owned both (a 06 KLX before they lowered them). The motor & handling of my WRX all the way. However, the WRX suspension is nothing to write home about. Sure the fork has one extra adjustment but so what. The KLX shock is alot better out of the crate than the the WR, my WRX has no dampening at all. The KLX fork is WAAAY to soft out of the box but once I installed stiffer springs I give the KLX fork the nod over the WR fork too. I did use thre KLX off road & it was so comfortable soaking up whatever came at it (not talking jumps though). My WRX is pavement only so I can't say how it does off-road. The brakes on the KLX sucked--just horrid. I ended up making my own EBC 320mm kit for it using a KLX300 EBC disc (mount holes are different between the two). I had/have a stainless brake line on both bikes. The WRX brakes are great with the stainless line but it is not really fair comparing a WRX to the non super moto KLX. Seat is alot cushier on the KLX, rock hard on the WRX. Overall the KLX is a comfier bike compared to my X. I had a 300 kit on the KLX & with it, a pipe, jet kit, etc. the KLX power was probably about the same it just took forever to rev up whereas the WRX gets with it better. The KLX had a tractor motor thing going where you could just lug it around. The KLX rear rack was handy but I don't think the new ones have them. On looks the WRX gets the nod. | |
