| Who cares? Anyone? Personally - I think it's a waste of time, money, energy, and it's invaded my space way too much over the last few weeks. I think it's a crock. _________________ 2008 WR250X Gearing: 13t - 48t Power Commander 5 / PC-V Airbox Door Removed - Flapper glued - AIS removed FmF Q4 Bridgestone Battlax BT-003rs

| To show you how much in the loop I am, I was unaware of any such thing, and still am. I think I had enough back in 1981 with Princess Di and ol' Big Ears. :) | |

| Well, let's see...
The Royal Family is a moneymaker for England, always has been. This will be a nice little blip for the Brit economy. Lots of people will make a tidy little sum in the travel business, hotel business, selling souvenirs, driving hack, etc.
More people would be pissed if the wedding was held in private than are pissed because it is public.
It shouldn't be a waste of time for anyone - those uninterested aren't required by law to watch any part of it or read any coverage.
So let's see. The groom, the man who will be king, has served in the military and still does as a SAR helicopter pilot after he was refused permission to go overseas because of his rank in succession to the throne. His brother serves in the military, appears to be making a career of it, and managed to get himself snuck overseas before the press "outed" him and his presence.
His father served in the military. Navy and air force - a rated pilot on everything from the Vulcan bomber to the Harrier and Phantom.
His uncles served in the military - one serving in the role of Exocet bait during the Falklands war.
His grandmother - the Queen - served in the military during WWII, in London, during the Blitz. As did his great aunt. Both as non-commissioned soldiers.
His grandfather served in WWII.
His great grandfather and grand uncles served in WWI.
I'm looking around at the current crop of politicians, looking for one who has served their country in the military they command in any capacity, much less an operational role, much less from a family whose male children (and female children in time of war) all join the military and go in harm's way.
No, I won't be watching. Yeah, I got time for the guy. He puts on the uniform, and he does it in an operational position. Good luck to them.
And I wouldn't change places with them for all the money they have. The idea of living your whole life in a goldfish bowl, with the newspapers hanging around your entire life, watching your every move and every word, drooling for a chance to practice a little ambush journalism, would be enough to make me want to grab the nearest Guardsman's rifle and spit a paparazzi on the bayonet.

That's pretty impressive. You must not watch or read any news. In fact, you must not watch any TV or surf any internet sites at all besides this one particular forum. _________________ 2008 WR250X Gearing: 13t - 48t Power Commander 5 / PC-V Airbox Door Removed - Flapper glued - AIS removed FmF Q4 Bridgestone Battlax BT-003rs

| My TV these days is for:
AMA Supercross MotoGP The occasional AMA/DMG/Whateverit'scalledthesedays Superbike race
I used to watch as much as anybody else, but I just grew bored with the shit on TV. :)

| Couldn't help but see some of it this morning while getting ready for work. It was on every damn channel. My observation, it was nice to see a decent looking English girl with nice teeth. | |

They figured everyone wanted to avoid the crowds. I didn't listen to the whole thing, as soon as I figured out it had to do with the wedding I changed the channel.

Nah, she's perfect for the NJ guys with the weather they have over there... Warmth in the winter, shade in the summer, and if she has tattoos, moving pictures all year 'round...

| We sort'a watched it. This thing occured on the same weekend as our 29th Anniversary. We DVRed it and "watched" it upon returning from a nice dinner out at an upscale steakhouse. At most we probably watched 25% of the coverage that Fox News aired. We fast forwarded through all the commercials and most of the repetitious fluff. I enjoy history and, I would argue this was history unfolding. We probably won't live to see either of these people obtain the throne. Not that I'm all that interested in the throne of Britain... except from a history standpoint, and even then only casually. My wife watched more for the girl stuff. But she had the remote and gave the FF button a workout none-the-less. We wish the new couple the best. And for the Brits that get all wound up with this stuff we hope it will prove to be a model marriage. We both agreed the flyover of the WWII warbirds was the best part. | |
