Why Are The Stickies Ignored So Often?

So here's my beef.

A thread that's stuck is stuck for a reason. The reason? It's a common discussion. One that's discussed frequently.

What happens when people ignore the sticky and start a new topic with the same questions over and over?

Information get's spread out over many different threads. That's makes it harder for the next member to find what could potentially be very important information.

I get that some people are just damn lazy. They don't want to have to read through 100's of posts, and some which are not useful at all (idle chit-chat) to find the stuff they really need.
So they'll just start a new thread to get what they want faster.

But why not ask your "new" question in the existing sticky? You'll still get your answer.
Most frequent forum users know how to use the "new posts" option for checking to see what people have asked/posted since their last visit to the forum.

This forum has a huge wealth of information and knowledge for everybody. Keeping it organized and tidy is important for everyone.

Whats a sticky?

I think you already know why, just from your question.
The last forum I signed up to was 6 yrs ago, it was a gaming forum, and where I learned most of what I know about computers in general.
Don't regret a thing, it was a good experience.
Met some great folks.
I was a leech, by my terms...takin more than you're givin...specially compared to the regulars on the site. Tho, i contributed whenever I could.
But I was there contributing, none the less...even if mostly off topic.
I would be computer illiterate, if not for them...and, probably, not conversing here toady.
So, here i am. Being a leech as usual, trying to fit into somewhere...
I'm confident I have allot to contribute anywhere...but I ended up here asking questions, not answering them.
It is correct, like said, to use the forum properly...things just work better that way, for everyone.

I will try harder, especialy since you reminded me. I plan to leech for a while, so I better fit in somewhere...heh.

...and what a novel idea ! Instead of reading the stickies themselves, expect a newbie to read a post about stickies that points them to the stickies ! Fucking genius I tell ya...

Here's a recommendation: Try DESPERATELY (It may take an intervention in your case) to avoid the temptation to answer all posts, on every subject and AVOID answering the simplistic and easily answered ones that are already covered in "Stickies" !

I'm not trying to offend you (Motokid), or anyone else. Just sayin' that people can control their frustration through avoidance, but are too often drawn into "I have to respond".

Let someone else answer. Find something else interesting to ponder. Go google whim-whams for a goats ass or something.

My guess is that your "Beef" will quickly disappear.

BTW... Can you tell me what oil is best ?
