I am fairly certain someone has done this, BUT here goes:
I was playing with the tach mode on the factory cluster, thought I would grab the GPS and ride around a bit. This is somewhat limited info.

First: geared at 13/46
Rear tire Maxxiss 110/100 desert IT (fairly new)
All mods, AIS, Flapper, Airbox (HF style), PCIII, FMF Q4 You get it!

GPS Speed // Indicated RPM

35 // 4200
45 // 5400
50 // 6000

Guesstimate

65 // 7800
75 // 9000

I ran 1st and 2nd to the rev limiter and indicated 9800 rpm's. I think there maybe limits in lower gears, but only speculating.

Awhile back was curious how fast I could go in 4th gear against the rev limiter and hit 75 (GPS) solid.

I would like to know what others have tried and their results. lurk

My GPS is always on too, so I have the speed but the tach would be nice!

I looked all over our forums, don't remember exactly where. Any way, at the plug going into the tip over switch under the seat on top of the airbox, there are 4 wires going in, only 3 are used, the one odd black wire needs to be removed from the plug and grounded, plug the tip over switch back in. Once done, set the kill switch off, hold the reset and select 1 buttons down and turn on the ignition and wait till your screen changes, "diag" will appear, press select 1, "co" will appear, press and hold reset and select 1 again, along the top will appear "0" and "C1", press and hold reset and select 1 again and you will see "0" on top and a number on the bottom, you are in the "CO" Mode which changes the CO readings for the idle emissions, now put the kill switch in run mode and start the bike, the top number will be your tach.
***In this mode you will not record any miles if you ride it***

Does anybody know, which wire does signal rpm rate to the speedo unit so that it can display it in diag mode?
There should be one actually, and it should be possible to connect to it with an external tach unit.

Regards, Phil
