| Hi all, noob here with a first post. I've been looking for a WRR for a while, and came across one locally on CL...however, it's actually an X, with dirt wheels and tires. Other than tires/wheels, sprocket, front brake and some cosmetic issues (black parts), what are the differences between the R and X? Specs for heigh and suspension travel are different, but I'm not sure if that is just an effect of the wheel/tire size. I want a bike focused on dirt perfornance and am concerned that there might be other differences in the suspension. Thanks. I tried searching this forum and didn't come across an answer, if this has been beaten to death, I apologize. | |

| I wouldn't be concerned with any internal differences with the suspension (if there are any) because, frankly, I don't think it would amount to a hill of beans since neither bike comes with great suspension to start with. Personally, I'd be more concerned with rubbing the black paint off the frame. | |

| The black paint holds up surprisingly well but it will rub off over time. I consider that "character marks".
From my understanding the only difference in the suspension other than fork color is the factory damper settings. Turn a few knobs/screws and you're setup like a factory R.

I had read this article about "rake and trail". The triple clamps are same part numbers fot the X and R, so my question is.... is the difference is in the frame? I have the X converted to an R, seams to ride out OK......just wondering? Black paint gone, second ride on shifter side of frame.

Black paint gone, second ride on shifter side of frame. I've read the same specs, and it's not clear to me what the difference is. The R front wheel is 4 inches larger in dia than the X, while the rear is only 1 inch larger (not counting tire cross sections). With no other changes, I think that will raise the front of the bike, increasing both rake and trail. Not sure if that's all there is, or if the frame or forks are different.

As far as I know that's all it is. The larger front wheel of the R changes the geometry quite significantly.

| the X stand is about an inch shorter, my bike was always leaning way over before the R stand was installed.

| I got the bike about a week ago, and have about 600 miles on so far, about 50/50 dirt/pavement. Love the little bike, it's a great time. I played a bit with the suspension adjustments and am a happy camper. It came with a bald rear tire (and was laced with a 19" rear rim), I put a Shinko 505 (dirt tire) on Friday night. It's not excessively rough on the highway and works well off road, we'll see how it holds up.
Oh yea, I do want to cut and extend the sidestand. The front brakes are worth a mention. Mine has the R rotor and caliper, I read that the X master cylinder has a larger dia piston. I do notice that it takes a fair amount of brake effort. Not a big deal for me, I have ham hands.
