| Ah! This section of the board wasn't opened earlier today, else I would have posted in here! Good deal. And not all X owners keep it clean! | |

| I'll be buying a wr in march. I'm still up in the air about the r model or x model. I'll be spending alot of time on paved roads to get to the dirt. I can't get the big wheels right away for switching back and forth. Anyone with opinions on buy an X vs R. I'm leaning toward the X version. | |

| a DOT knobbie works a lot better on the street than a sportbike tire does in the dirt. | |

| I got an X and love it. Its great fun drifting in the loose dirt on street tyres. Does bog down a little in the deep sand though. You can take any bike anywhere, Just depends on how brave you are.... |

| Yeah, it's amazing what can be done with street tires. The only real limitations I've run into so far where I would really prefer a knobby is mud and wet grass.
General dirt and gravel don't seem to matter what I have on for tires. I did get a little stuck one day turning around in some really soft dirt (almost like sand). The rear wheel was spinning quite a bit, but I think I would have been fine if I'd been able to keep moving.
Anyway Labratt, I agree with you. It's awfully fun having a bike that handles like this thing does on the pavement and can still 'play' in the dirt.

| When I go to the dealers to look at WR's , I'll probably jump on the R, since I'm leaning towards adventure riding mode more...but If the prices for some reason is better on the X, well, money is money, right? | |

| That was my plan. Get the X, play motard, if I like it in the dirt more than my KLR, then get a second set of wheels. The street tires are pretty good in the bit of dirt they've seen though.
Found a bit of mud on the way to the motard track last night. I'm guessing it was part of the entrance exam. The philosophy being that if you can't handle a bit of mud on the street tires then you shouldn't be motarding.
