| I've followed the developments of the turbo for the RX but I doubt it will be well suited for off-road use because it is quite voulnerable in that place.
In the past (I still am a Suzy owner) the Suzuki's had RAM Air or SCAI (Suzuki Condensed Air Intake). Even Yamaha had something called AIS.
My idea is, would there be enough room to create a 'ram air' opening under the left (fake) shroud and route an intake tube to the airbox?
I know, it may ask for some relocation of the parts which are currently there, but it is the best place to catch a lot of wind!

This V-star solution is a bit silly, as the are guiding hot air from the cylinder in the intake, but with the R2 it would only be cold air. We would have to tackle the problem of rain though...

| I don't know if it's the same as what your thinking, but the WRR/X has an AIS and alot of people remove it. | |

| I have already thought about this idea in depth and can't seem to figure out a good and easy way to get cool ram air to the airbox in the fashion you mentioned. And like you said, the problem of rain water is another hurdle. I'm still working on it though.
BTW, the Yamaha AIS system is not a ram air system. It's not even for the intake, it's for adding air to the exhaust for better burning off of exhaust gases. Basically, a polution control system, and not a performance feature.

| Here is a RAM air kit for a car: To me it looks like a part of my wife's vaccuum cleaner. | |

| Ram air is really only affective above 120mph +. That's why only sportbikes use it. It's been discussed in depth on some other boards I'm on. Waste of time and money on our 250. | |

| That't a pitty. We have no other option than to mount the turbo. | |

| I'm not mounting that thing to my R² and take the chance of having it ripped off when I dump it. It's fine for an X but for the R² you're really taking your chances tearing it off and doing some nasty damage. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

Exactly what I was thinking. It may come into effect a little below that, but I seriously doubt the little WR spends much time near that speed. - Noppy wrote:

Or, just get used to what the bike is. It's a reasonably light, low maintenance 250. A pipe and a programmer do seem to offer a bit more pep if you feel you need it. I hear you on the turbo though. I like the idea, but I had a low side on the motard track about a month ago that likely would have taken out the turbo if I had one. I'm not quite so interested in actually having one on there now.

| My thoughts about it were not so much for ram air, but for cooler air. I thought it would help to get some fresh cool air from the front of the bike and duct it into the air box. Riding in the rain would be the problem. And the fact that there is not much space to work with when it comes to ducting to the airbox without interferring with the motion of other moving parts. | |

At aint as simple as I thought... Interesting article. I wish I had one of those meters to play with. At least we don't have knock sensors and boost controls messing with the timing on our bikes like that Audi.
