| Here's what I eventually ended up with after trying the RotoPax (which you can see elsewhere on this page): Mojavi Saddlebag by Giant Loop <-- linky Click the pictures to supersize.
The aluminum fuel bottles are described also.
You can use the Mojavi when you need it and hang it in the garage when you don't need it. But I find it's useful even when I don't need to carry extra fuel.

| I have three aluminum bottles that I have used on past rides. All came from ebay. 2 of them are 1.5l each and one is an MSR .8l bottle. I currently carry one of the bigger bottles and a rotopax on my bike. So far I have only used the rotopax once but have used the fuel bottle several times as it gets me about 20-30 extra kms and is very quick to pour in and also to refill later. For now all I have done is put it in a throw over saddle bag that I ride with but I do plan to look for ABS pipe that it will fit into and strap it to the frame rails. The rotopax holds more but takes longer to pour in, set up refill repack etc. etc. I find the little one can get dumped in faster than a pit stop can be completed. | |

I've never seen one of the MSR bottles in person. What makes them different than the aluminum bottles you can buy at Wal-mart in the camping section?

Have a look at the tool tubes and agri tubes - ready to go with mounts, lids, locks, etc. Tool tubes <-- linky

| I have looked at that before but have not looked at actual dimensions. I know my fuel can is approx 3.5" diameter.
Not sure about the fuel cans from walmart but the msr can has a better locking top then the one I am using. But I have not had any issue with it. I do believe that as long as it is a white fuel camping can. You would be fine with it no matter what brand it is. The only thing is msr ones do have bottle carriers to fit them and other makes may not.

What makes them different than the aluminum bottles you can buy at Wal-mart in the camping section? Never been in Walmart or seen their bottles, but the MSR bottles are not only for gas storage; they're designed to be pressurized, for use with their stoves. Which is a good thing if you ever subject them to heat (aside from using them with an MSR stove). I've got 2 Sigg aluminum bottles with the bottoms all puffed out from pressure due to heat from the sun. My MSR bottles, some of which are almost 20 years old, show no such damage. They get a lot of use.

They get a lot of use. The Wally World ones are more for drinks (I think). But they look identical; spun aluminum with plastic caps. I've got a couple of the Walmart bottles and use them to hold "adult beverages" for around the fire at night. I guess I'll order a couple of the MSR bottles over winter. The $7 savings is not worth risking a fire or explosion.

Scroll down to tool tube and brackets specifically for the WR frame. They initially had trouble with these brackets but claim to have fixed them.

| If you want more capacity than a couple of liters, the Rotopax work very well, as someone else posted. You can also get collapsable bladders.

| Is your bike modified? My fuel light comes on at 150km (slightly more) giving me a total of 200km range.
On a side note, you may want to invest in a fuel bladder or a dromediary bag

| I was out in my shop yesterday and was able to look at my fuel cans. They are Primus brand. They just a bigger version of the MSR ones. I know mine came from eBay but REI also has some but they are smaller ones. | |

Dear fan of R² Thanks for all replies, I think in front of them maybe i will go on IMS tank 3gl, even if it's not the more or quick solution fro my needing previous. The only problem will be to find it because, as you know the R² have been out of the market and suppliers of parts non genine have stop too for specials requirements

| I have a 4L bladder from liquid containment (see http://liquidcontainment.com.au/category/12/Motor-Bike). They have a bladders in a variety of sizes as well as having ones integrated into hydration bladders. They are available through just Gas Tanks in the US as well which may be slightly easier for you to access. I am sort of lucky as Liquid Containment are made near my home town of Brisbane, Australia meaning they are quite a distance from just about everyone else in the world ...
Mine slides into my dry bag around my tent when I am not using it making it take up virtually no room in my luggage. I lash it on top of my giant loop bag when I have it filled up. It gives me another 100 km of safe range in addition to my Safari tank.

Do you think that there's enough room to hang two of these over the tank like tank bags when using the stock tank?
