Hi, I have just bought a 2004 Yamaha WR 250F for my 7 mile each way commute to work.I live in the U.K
I know this is mainly a U.S forum. I wonder if someone can help me.

I Think my bike is an import(to the U.K). First part of VIN plate is e1 *92/61*0106*

when googled every thing that game up was in German.

My question is What is the difference between the German model and the U.K version.?

I know that the U.S version of this bike has more restriction than the U.K one.

The carb has 5UM6 6ORKO6 Stamped on it if this helps .

I thought this would be a good way to commute in style. They do need frequent oil changes and valve checks.I live in town and most of the ride is in a 30 MPH zone.

Well...nice bike. This is a board geared towards the WR-R & X, not the WRF, but that being said, there might be someone on here who might be able to answer that for you. Some guys have the WRF, just not sure who's privvy on the overseas models. Wr 250F euro import question. 29721

Yes this forum seemed to be the closest I could find for this bike. I will keep my fingers crossed. I was looking at the WR250X but this 250F was £1000 less (age) and I do like enduro spec bikes.

Your Yamaha dealer may be able to put the VIN in the Yamaha computer system to see where the bike was originally sold. That's assuming that they have a similar system to what we have here in Oz.

I can't really say that I like that bike as a commuter. They're a fairly high strung motor and all those little short trips are going to wear it out pretty quick, heating up and cooling down all the time. The valves in them are designed for maximum performance too and aren't going to hold up anywhere near as well as the WR250R or X. I'd say that 1000pound saving will be whittled away pretty quick on maintenance costs. Couldn't you find a WR250R anywhere?

Well I hope they are not as fragile as people say. I am going to keep on top of maintanance. I mostly 40 MPH or less occasionally opening her up. Soon I will be using the car for the worse of the winter weather. I may well get a WR250X in a year or two.

The bike that you have bought is a bike mainly used for enduro races and is sold street legal because some of the transportation tracks at such races needs a street legal bike.
Its the same rules here in sweden. I can just go to a dealer and buy me a brand new WR250/450F and ride it on the street basically as the are delivered with indicators and mirrors and so. But because of the service its not really suited for only road use. But off course its no problem to use it like that as long as u keep up with doing the valve check and adjustments every now and then and change the oil wery often.

But u should search for the wr250F in such enduro or MX forums I think u are more spot on there.

The WR250 X/R is a more road suited WR and have a different cylinder head that doesnt need the same love and care as the F model.

So as long as u learn how to check and adjust valve clearence and change oil u should be just fine.

I dont know if this really helped anything......
