upgraded charging system?

I was recently in a situation where i had to start my x several times in a short period. It only started 4 times before the battery would not turn the motor over. Im assuming since the bike is relatively new that it is due to a weak charging system and or small battery. Does anyone know of an upgrade? I know on my cruiser i had to upgrade the statore to do any lighting uprgrades so i was looking in that direction. Also does anyone know the model of speedoDRD from 12 o clock labs the 2008 WR250X takes. Is it a plug and play model or the one that needs wiring?

describe your "several times" and "short period".

I have a 2008 model X with the original battery in it. I have added an EFI controller and the 12 o'clock labs speedo corrector.

Never once a hic-cup with battery.

Are you sure you got your bike with a good battery to begin with?


Go to 12 o'clock labs website. I don't know model number of speedoDRD but it is a plug and play unit from my recollection. Easy to install once you find the right connector. It's easy to attempt to connect to wrong connector.

I've got an 09, still on the original battery and going strong. Something's not right if you can only get 4 starts out of it before the battery packs it in; the charging system on this bike can light up a small city compared to other bikes out there. 350w is nothing to sneeze at, and the stock battery is pretty durable (as long as it's look after an maintained every so often thru a battery tender when not being used for longer durations).

The WRR/X has a 350w stator from the factory, so unless you're running a ton of electricals you probably don't need to upgrade it. You probably have a bum battery.

My bike sat for a while (months) without being used and exhibited the same symptons.
I bought one of the Ballistic 8 cell battery packs (a 4 cell was the recommended size but the 8 cell fits)
and now there is no way there is not enough juice to start it at any time.
I had to extend the cables a bit as the Ballistic battery has the terminals reversed compared to the standard unit.
