I was able to get the jam nut to losen off of the shock block (while dinging up the shock block...not overly impressed about that). But now I'm stuck. How do I now get the shock block to turn up to lower the bike. The block just turns with the center of the shock....how to I losen the block so I can thread it up higher to lower the suspension? Or am I missing something here?
Help would be appreciated so I can put this bad boy back together... thanks.
Hi mix123,
Not sure what you mean by everything apart, theres not much to it ,but this is what you do, it will take 30mins max, including a coffee, LOL
Put the bike on a stand/box so that the rear wheel is off the ground,
1) wind up the rebound damper clockwise untill it stops, then wind it anti-clockwise 25 turns (this is min soft)
2) undo the lock nut that sits ontop of the lower shock fork (the bit that you will be turning) wind the nut upto the bottom of the rebound adjuster knob.
3)undo and remove the lower shock retaining bolt, supporting the swing arm at the same time, i push it up high and support it with a stand/ blocks.
4)the lower block can now be wound up the shaft, to the bottom of the nut under the rebound adjuster knob, the thread will stick through the block by approx 1MM
you may have to hold the shock shaft by the 2 flats that are just under the spring plate.
5) then lock the nut up to the lower block,
6) re-asemble removed parts, and re-set rebound damper setting, 12 clicks out from full is standard.
hope this helps
