So I'm thinking a great 50'th birthday present would be a shiny new Wr250R, right?

As i understand it, throttle stop, airbox flapper, and removing exhaust restriction are the first things I should do.

Since I don't really want a loud annoying bike, do I just open up the stock unit, or get the GYTR exhaust?

Someone more knowledgable than me can give you advice on mods...

But yeah , man, a WR would make a killer 50th B-day present! Go for it.

Throttle stop?

Who told you GYTR pipe is quiet?

Gearing would be my first choice. Change it. Stock gearing sucks.

If you buy a brand new bike you might want to leave it relatively stock for a few months, but if you insist on modding the bike then yes, open up the exhaust and the intake and get a fuel programmer.

If you're going off-road a lot of R owners seem to say the stock R tires suck dead donkey balls as well.

Look into the FmF Q4 exhaust pipe. Only stock pipe is quieter.

Do you have experience with riding?

Perhaps I have the throttle stop confused with the WR450.

Nobody told me the GYTR pipe is quiet, my bad assumption.

Do I have any experience with riding? Look at my signature, all bikes listed are in the garage.

My DR is setup for a month long Alaska trip this year and has had lots of offroad riding, just a bit heavy.

Actually, I may have found a clean '09 I might pick up.

Oops....missed that. I rarely look at those lines of text. Nice collection.

Why you looking at the lil 250?

The DR is going to hurt me in the sand and tight woods. It works but I can't ride alone because if the sand sucks me in, it's pretty tough to pick up without help. The lil 250 will be better for that!
