Ok so I have the option of buying a 2009 wrx that is new but has just sat there at the dealer and a 2011 wrx that well is also new. My question is aside from color, is there any difference? The 09 is 1500 bucks cheaper so if its just the number on the DOB im fine with that. And any other precautions about buying such a "old new" motor vehicle (ive bought a new 1 year old motorvehicle before and no prob with it sitting in the dealer for a while, but this will have been sitting for approx 3-4years, anyone have any experience?) Also, if anyone could direct me to any news or rumors about a 2012, that would be appreciated too!

Thanks

Click me.

There is no 2012 X model. Only an R for 2012. The consensus seems to be that they're trying to clear the showrroms of X models.

All model years are the same, save for colors and decals.

Being a brand-new 2009 model that was built three years ago wouldn't bother me.
I would, however, ask that the battery be tested to ensure it's still good since the battery comes pre-charged, and the longer it sits around, the greater the chance of it going kaput.

What would get my attention is if the bike had obviously been ridden and then sat around with fuel in the tank and fuel system.

Back in the day, I bought a brand-new 1983 Yamaha XT-550K in 1986.
I also bought a brand-new 1986 Yamaha BW-200ES in 1989 or 1990, and a brand-new 1987 Yamaha BW-350T a few months later.
No trouble, and the bikes never skipped a beat.

Good call on the gas, I have had the problem of gas sitting too long in the tank but I would have totally forgotten about it until probably after I paid for the bike.....

Do most cars/bikes/other motorvehicles that are brand new and have not been test ridden/driven have gas in the tanks before someone buys them? Like if the 2011 hasnt' been test ridden, will it also have gas in it?

EDIT** i know this is the X part of the forum but is the model years the same from 2009-2012 on the R model as well? Except for paint and decals of course.

No changes for either the WR-250R or WR-250X.

If the bike is not fired-up by the dealer, it would have no gas in it.
The bike does come out of the crate with engine oil and coolant already there, and the battery is already charged.

Depends what they will come down on the 2009. The retail is only $3700 after you drive it off the lot. Probably get a 2009 for around $5200. I payed the extra $1500 and got a 2012.

There is no 2012 wr250x.

Not in the USofA anyway.

Not in Canada either.

Although my dearler believes there will be a WR450R here next year. thumb
Even if the hubs/brakes differ from the WR250R, I'm sure supermoto wheels would be available.
