Okay... I like to support dealerships. But I don't like to think I'm helping them pay off their yacht.
$14 for an oil filter, $14 for two quarts of Yamalube, and then $2.50 on top of that for "handling & restocking" is just a little too much on the gouging side for me.
I think the local stealer has seen the last of me unless he's my court of last resort or has a deal going on. $30 isn't a big deal in the big scheme of things, but that's just too much.
Anyway, a short look and I find that South Seattle Yamaha Sports Plaza offers 30% off Yamaha parts. So oil filters come in at $8.37, and the two O-rings at $1.36 and $.95 respectively. I don't know about you guys, but for the price of the O-rings, I replace them every time I do a filter change. I didn't bother with Yamalube - I decided to stick with Yamalube for the initial breakin, but next change it will be Rotella Synthetic.
So, do the rest of you get better pricing from your dealer? Or is he a stealer that ends up having you shopping the Internet? If you shop the Internet, where do you shop?
I'm trying to make allowances for the dealer having a reasonable markup, but when it is far cheaper to buy consumables and parts - with shipping - from halfway across the country than to walk into your local Yammy dealer... I vote with my wallet.
