Where do you buy your filters and other consumables?
My dealer - I just walk in and plunk down my charge card.

My dealer - but I have a sweet deal going with him that makes his pricing competitive.

My dealer has priced himself out of my wallet - I shop online or at parts houses.

Okay... I like to support dealerships. But I don't like to think I'm helping them pay off their yacht.

$14 for an oil filter, $14 for two quarts of Yamalube, and then $2.50 on top of that for "handling & restocking" is just a little too much on the gouging side for me.

I think the local stealer has seen the last of me unless he's my court of last resort or has a deal going on. $30 isn't a big deal in the big scheme of things, but that's just too much.

Anyway, a short look and I find that South Seattle Yamaha Sports Plaza offers 30% off Yamaha parts. So oil filters come in at $8.37, and the two O-rings at $1.36 and $.95 respectively. I don't know about you guys, but for the price of the O-rings, I replace them every time I do a filter change. I didn't bother with Yamalube - I decided to stick with Yamalube for the initial breakin, but next change it will be Rotella Synthetic.

So, do the rest of you get better pricing from your dealer? Or is he a stealer that ends up having you shopping the Internet? If you shop the Internet, where do you shop?

I'm trying to make allowances for the dealer having a reasonable markup, but when it is far cheaper to buy consumables and parts - with shipping - from halfway across the country than to walk into your local Yammy dealer... I vote with my wallet.

Well, I get my filter and a lot of my stuff that the dealer as they help me out with pricing of stuff. Sometimes tho, other places have them beat. I'm getting my oil from a truck shop now because it's cheaper and the stuff I'm using has no moly and is JASO MA approved. New stuff, way cheaper and if I can get it cheaper I'll go where the deals are. A lot of the times he will match prices, depending on what it is.

I buy the majority of my stuff from my local dealer because I've worked in dealerships since 1987.
So, I guess that's kind of by default. :)

On occasion, though, I'll still buy stuff off the Internet, either because I saw something being sold at a blow-out price on EBay or an item from a message board or forum.
It could also be that I want to burn-up some of my PayPal money.

I buy most of my stuff at my local dealer. OE and non-OE parts are price competitive with most online places, especially when you factor in shipping, and so far they usually have what I want or need in stock. One exception is I do order oil filters from TT, $12 each is too damn much for that little tiny thing imo.

like most everyone else i have other "toys" to keep up too.
rocky mtn. mc/atv for the regular stuff
e-bay sometimes...if what i need is listed
walmart for the oil

the dealer i bought my wrr from was not my regular dealer.....i guess they are now though...i've checked with their parts dept. on a cpl things and they will meet or beat the price on alot of stuff that you can find deals on online. you need to know the facts on the stuff your looking for though before you get there.

fyi...rocky mtn has our oil filters in the tusk brand line for 3.95.....they are exactly the same as the 14.00 dealer yamaha filters.
