Pitted forks? Empty
PostSubject: Pitted forks?   Pitted forks? EmptyMon Aug 27, 2012 2:20 pm

Noticed on the brake calliper side fork, lower chrome polished part, it seemed to be a bit pitted, or some spots of hard to remove muck?

Bike has done around 5000 miles now, should I be taking off my fork protectors more regular and cleaning the forks? Is this common?

Thanks.

Agreed we need a picture. If it is actually pitting it is not normal. I have seen 70-90's bikes with pitted forks but never on anything as "new" as the WRR.

No pic, sorry. The issue was on the inside of the fork, beside the brake rotor, so very difficult to see, never mind take a picture!

I did very carefully scrape the 6 or 7 hard growths or pitting down, and then polish with some chrome polish, im actually thinking now it could be some hard road dirt, or brake debris flicked up by the brake rotor?

I will keep an eye next time I clean the bike.

Were those "growths" malignant?
