What size rear T-63?

Search function showed some differing opinions on whether to use 130/80/18 or 120/80/18 and many of the posts are old. For those of you who have tried these tires, is there any reason I should not go with the 130/80/18 which makes it slightly wider than stock tires?

I have weighed in before on this issue, I run the 130/80 and will replace with the same. I have found Michelin's sizing to be a bit optimistic. 130/80 and 90/90 work well for me...

I installed the 130/80/18 T63 today. It actually measured 126 mm width which is probably why folks are using this to replace the OEM width of 120mm. I measured the stock width just to compare and it did in fact measure out at 120 mm. Thought some others might be interested in case they were trying to decide on the 120 versus the 130 in a T63. Here are a few photos. OEM tire had 7712 km (4820miles) on it. I went with a Pirelli MT21 for the front.

Can you measure the height of the center knobs for me F & R? I'm curious to see how mine have worn...They have about 1.5K on them...

Sure,

Height of rear centre knobs on the T63 are 11mm high.

Height of the centre knobs on the Pirelli MT21 is 9mm high.

I have a MT-21 front, and a T-63 on order. Hopefully this is a good combination.

Since the manual indicates 120-80, I never though to order a different size. I assume 120-80 will work fine?

I'm happy with my 120. Never saw the need for fatter tires on a dirt bike.

Yes, you will have to decide to go 130 or 120. I had read that the Michelin sizing was "optimistic" and that proved to be the case as my 130 spec only measured out at 126mm. That is only 6 mm or 1/4 inch wider than the OEM which was spec'd at 120 and measured 120. I did a fair amount of interweb research before deciding on the 130 and am content with my decision. Up to you to decide for your bike. It's all good as either one is fine.

Not sure where you guys are measuring, but my 120/80 T63 is 119 mm at its widest point across the knobs. It's got maybe 2,000 km on it, but I don't think that would make a diff.
