Too much IMO. He's going to have a hard time moving the bike and he knows it. I think he would take less. If not, you can probably find an older leftover elsewhere and they haven't changed so its just a number. There are a lot floating around. They were hard to move because they cost more than most people are willing to spend on a 250. Used bikes aren't a bad idea either. These bikes are ROCK solid, so if it hasn't been crashed and they changed the oil (or didn't put many miles on it) there really isn't much else to mess up. IMO, a bike with less than 5k on it would probably still be fine even if they had never changed the oil lol.
On that note, I gave 6k for my leftover X, which costs more as a base and mine came with pipe, programmer, and flapper mod. On the paperwork they calculated that they sold me the bike for around 5200 with the rest being taxes, fees, and price of the parts.
