Frame paint Empty
PostSubject: Frame paint   Frame paint EmptySun Nov 02, 2014 3:57 pm

Good day.
I have a 2010 WR250X that is starting to show rust around the frame welds under the seat etc.
I plan to rub these areas down and treat the rust, but am wondering what paint system is best to apply. Etch primer? Stone chip? Spray or brush? What paint make?
Any advice most grateful.
Thanks. puke

PostSubject: Rustoleum Silver Metallic!   Frame paint EmptyMon Nov 03, 2014 2:38 am

http://www.onlinefabricstore.net/rust-oleum-metallic-spray-silver-.htm
I had used the rustoleum on a separate project where i was expecting chrome but in reality the color was very similar to the factory engine paint most bikes come with...

I later used it to touch up the stator cover on my WR. To my amazement even I couldn't tell where i touched it up...Wow, and then again I tried it on her subframe where the passenger pegs used to be...Perfect match!
The color is right and the paint is cheap, though it is not especially durable so it would probably wear off again shortly.

here is a review I found of some metallic spray paints, and shows what each flavor looks like http://www.skypirate.net/rocketry/con_paint_03.htm

Ohh I do see that now, well then i might try out plastidip it looks the right color and if done right could be durable enough or just to add a cool texture while protecting your frame until you find a better option.

I might even experiment with it Now just to see how sections of my frame look black since over spray is ridiculously easy to clean and removing the paint is even easier.
