Anyone tried this to paint their seat? From the Youtube videos i saw and the reviews on this stuff it seems like it would work. Your thoughts?

I'll try it if you can tell me where I can buy it.

Home Depot? Lowes? Tru Value?

I have the stock 2008 blue/black seat collecting dust.

If I can dye/paint the blue part into a black I'd be happy.

I saw it at Advanced Auto Parts and Pepboys. I would imagine any auto parts store that carries paint would have it.

With that paint above? Did you notice any stiffness after or is it pretty flexible? Any close up pics after you painted and pics after a few months of use?

That's great Motokid. I didn't know that paint was available in hot pink.

Seat Paint Dscn3122

Seat Paint Dscn3123

The textured part of the stock Yamaha seat is a wonderfully easy thing to paint. You'd have to be very ham-fingered to end up with drips while spray painting the seat,

The flat hot pink paint I bought covers completely the first coat. Dries very quickly. Completely matches the hot pink Yamaha used on the center panel.

I've done three coats of hot pink in a little over an hour and now I'll let it sit for 24 hours before any "testing" of the product takes place.

So far I'd say it's one of the easiest things one could customize with spray paint on our bikes.

I highly recommend the flat hot pink, but I can't imagine the other colors offered would not be just as good.

I can see selling my spiral step seat in the near future. Very happy

Did you mask off the center hot pink then paint the sides pink to match? Or did you spray the whole seat hot pink?

lurk

That looks great. Post up after you thrash it. Curious to see how it holds up before I buy my own can of hot pink.

I did not spray the center portion of the seat. I did not spray the entire seat.

I'll leave it to you to guess if I masked off anything or not. wink

There will be plenty of pictures to follow.

Especially if anything starts to crack or flake or bleed.

Good thing is, there's more than enough paint left in can to paint a dozen more times at least.

So the only issue I might hate is if the paint bleeds off seat onto my clothing, or onto my white body panels.

Seat Paint Dscn3129

First week with painted seat.

100 degrees one day. Upper 90's a few more. Sat in parking lot all day for three really hot days in the sun while at work. Got rained on once, and today I washed the shit out of and off my bike and the seat looks spectacular.
