Gearing and tire size

So I read a lot about the gearing that people use and recommend but I noticed that most don't include what tires they are running.

Mine: 120/80-18 Pirelli MT21 with 13-47
Pros: Greater control in dirt/slow speeds compared to the 13-43 (stock) I had prior with the same tires.
Cons: Feels really tapped out at 75mph(GPS) to not get run over on the highway. Odometer is really far off now (healer on the way).

I'll try the 120/90-18 D606 when the MT21 wears out.

I use 13/43 gearing with the very tall Pirelli MT43 trials pattern tyre. Initially I used a Dunlop D606 120/90x18 which is lower in profile, and suits the WR very well, I think. I got 14,000 km out of mine before the the sidewall knobs started breaking out. All offroad use.
Gearing is higher for sure with the Pirelli, but still fine. I'll be going back to a Dunlop simply because the Pirelli makes the bike very tall at the back - and it alters the steering a bit, as well as making the sidestand too short.

Gearing Commander allows you to input tire circumference to check the effect on overall gearing.

I run a MT-43 rear and MT-21 front with 14/50 sprockets.

I run Heidenau K60s in the OEM tire sizes. Switched after guys quit giving me their "Death Wings" for free or nearly free - I rarely encounter mud or sand. I already have instep length issues despite the Yamalink, settings in the shock, and a Seat Concepts that lowers the seat somewhat, so a lot of the bigger circumference tires aren't even on my shopping list. The Heidenau's are good tires anyways, being as I'm truly a 50/50 dual sport guy and that's what the tire is designed for. Gearing is 14/49, which works well for me. I regularly do a three hour commute on the slab, there and back usually once a week. The odd long slab burn coming back from Libby area on the slab. 14/49 lets me run that comfortably (or as comfortable as possible on a naked dual sport) at 73 mph GPS - that speed is the sweet spot that the bike just finds itself at, not a speed that I pick. The bike will go faster than that, but running at 73 mph for long runs works for me.
