What do you all think about putting a half inch thick piece of aluminum between the frame and the foot peg bracket?

could be an inexpensive way to get a little extra upward folding and alittle more stability. Even more stable with an aftermarket peg!

You could be onto something there, Shred. The only thing that might make it awkward is the placement of the shifter and the brake pedal as to where it lines up with your foot.

These are hard to find in North America....the vendor listed on the Roc Stompa site shows them out of stock, so on a whim I searched eBay...I paid $95 for them, I think they list for $175 other wise. They can also be found here: http://www.ziptyracing.com/products/product_detail.aspx?id=MTU3OA==

Wheeling Cycle Supply now has DRC (cast) pegs for the WR; $35.00. See the link in the banner ad on the home page.

I ordered a set and they are decent. They also come with springs and new cotter pins. Easy to install, except that the shifter side spring had to be trimmed ever so slightly. They also do not fold up as much as the stockers. They are much wider (front to back) but a tad shorter (side to side) than stock. Peg surface area is 3 1/8" x 1 7/8".

I've had a pair of these pegs on my KLX for two years, 8500 miles and they still look like new. I have canondale footpegs on my WRs. If you use these footpegs you need Yamaha WRF footpeg springs part number 90508-28015-00 and 90508-28018-00. They also have nice LED blinkers and LED license plate lights.

Looked at a set of Pivot Pegz yesterday and they looked great, but at $169.95 they make me think twice. I don't know if you'd notice that they pivot a few degrees and if it would be a great advantage over these $15.90 to $35.00 (DRC) pegs.

PostSubject: Fastway Evolution II F5 Foot Pegs   Foot Pegs - Page 3 EmptyThu Aug 13, 2009 8:45 am

I finally got around to getting some new foot pegs for the R². I ended up getting some of the Fastway Evolution II F5 from Dennis Kirk. I decided on these based on some reviews from a couple of people here and on ADV, and I wanted to mount them in the "low boy" position for just a little bit more room since I'm too damn tall (6'6"). Anyway, install was a breeze. I did not have any of the problems that I have read about on ADV concerning fitment and poor machining of the pegs. Had to disconnect the brake lever to remove/install the pin on the right side, and needed an extra hand from my girlfriend to put the pin back in on the same side while I fought the spring. Took the bike out for a spin afterwards. Went down to some easy FS roads to try standing, shifting, and braking. These pegs are the bees knees thumb !! Extremely stable, easy to shift and brake, great transitioning from sitting to standing and vice versa, and puts my legs in a more natural position. I would have to say this mod and adding Rox Risers are the two best changes I have done to this bike.

Here are a few pics:

Don't have a stand, but some scrap wood works fine...wanted to show how
the new pegs sit lower than stock

I tried to get this shot as centered as possible, but you can see how the Fastways are mounted farther back in the "low boy" position compared to stock.

Looks good! I have been wanting some new pegs myself and have IMS pegs on the ATV and love 'em. I see they make them for this bike and may give them a shot. One other thing I want to try is a different brake pedal. The stocker has such a small "toe" area on it, I am used to a larger one from all other bikes... I have a IMS on my ATV as well and will see if they make one for the WR...

I would be interested in an aftermarket brake lever too. I don't really like the design of the stock one and would like to have something beefier as well.

PostSubject: Re: Foot Pegs   Foot Pegs - Page 3 EmptyFri Aug 14, 2009 9:02 am

I sure do:

Fastway part #: 22-3-005

I ordered them from Dennis Kirk and here is a link to the pegs on their site. http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/product_catalog/Product.jsp;jsessionid=5EKSIKD2A2GSBLA0WTISM4VMDK0OWIV0?store=&skuId=495863

Under the fitment tab on the link above it does say it works with the X and R, but I actually emailed the Fastway people to make sure before ordering.

If you do decide to get them from D.K. look online and there is a coupon code for a free $10 giftcard with your order. Can't be applied to this purchase but still makes it a little bit better for the price.

After almost taking out an eye when I installed new pegs on my KTM 950, I'm a-skeert of those flying little monsters! eeek

Any tips on controlling the springs when changing? I think I read somewhere about using zip ties....

I was expecting the spring to go flying when I removed the peg, but nothing happened. tough Pretty uneventful really. I knocked out the bolt holding it in and tapped it out and the stock foot peg just came right off. No little flying monsters here!!

Imma get new pegs soon, and these sound good and bad to me. On one hand I feel they would be less stable, less control over the bike because they give. But on the other hand I'm thinking they might be good for braking when wheelieing.... Any comments?

You don't have to order those. Pivot Pegs makes specific pegs just for our bikes. I have a set on mine. Foot Pegs - Page 3 61865
