Could some one please tell me how do I "peen back" the peen tabs once I've installed a new front sprocket?

I used a hammer and punch.
I used a new nut, too.

When you removed the sprocket did you just undo it or lift the tab out of the groove? When you tighten the nut, locate the shaft groove and with a small drift or centre punch, lightly hammer the collar of the nut into the groove.

The new nut will not come "reset", and if it did, that would defeat the purpose of peening the nut down:
To mechanically lock it to the shaft to ensure it does not loosen.

I bought a new nut from a Yamaha motorcycle dealer.
Many of them also have Internet web sites to order parts from.

I dont bother peening it. I just use some medium strength threadlocker.

I change front sprockets quite often, so this works for me, and is easy to do.
