Perhaps even more shocking is the plan to also discontinue the iconic R6!!

Sorry to hear this sad news. I owned a 2008 WR250R and really enjoyed it. Perhaps with three (3) different platforms YZ,FX, WR, they will come out with a new dual sport.
Everybody wants bigger and better? We will have to wait and see.

I'm hoping they will release a new 350 or 400. Whatever they do, it will probably have to meet Euro emissions standards, and have ABS.

I didn't even know of the announcement but was at the dealer where they had a brand new one sitting there for $6799.  I asked the dealer about it but by the time it was out the door it would have been $7500+.   Later I found out they discontinued them but by that time the bike was long gone.

I heard someone else mention that Yamaha might be building a new improved 300 or ? but if the 250R won't pass emissions, I doubt a bigger bike is going to either. I think the game is about over. Too, who in their right mind would want ABS on their bike? unless you are a noob who can't coordinate the brakes to work together. It would just be more weight, complexity, cost and something else to have to disable and remove.

The KLX and CRF certainly don't seem to be as serious an effort as the WRR was. cry
