Rear clearance lights, or not ? Empty
PostSubject: Rear clearance lights, or not ?   Rear clearance lights, or not ? EmptyMon Oct 04, 2021 1:49 pm

Hi All,
I just purchased a 2018 WR250R and I need to replace the rear turn signals.
The OEM ones have just 2 wires going to them and act only as turn signals.
The front ones have 3 wires to them and act as both clearance lights AND turn signals.

SO, my question is, since the replacement units I received have 3 wires, can I tap into the hot wire on the tail light,
and turn the rears into both clearance and turn signal lights ?

Do you think they will "overpower" the tail light ?
Why didn't Yamaha wire the rear end to have clearance lights to begin with?

Since most of my riding will be on pavement, I'm after a bit more "visibility" at night.

Has anyone done this, and if so how did it turn out.

Probably because it is illegal to be running amber or white lights in the rear of a vehicle. And this is not a Yamaha peculiarity, no manufacturer runs such lights in the rear.
