Bought some new grips and they dont fit. What size bar is on the 09 R??

7/8" where the grips mount, like most Yamaha motorcycles.
What'd you get - ATV grips or Harley grips? :)

Pro Grip Model 790 Triple Density Grips is the ones I bought. The left side is so loose it will fall off. I used buster dirt shop and bought the ones for my bike.

Sounds like you got fatbar grips. Grips Suspect I made that mistake after someone had switched them on the hanger and I never checked the damned tag. Grips 911463

Possible you put the one for the throttle side on the left side?
They should only go on one way, different diameter holes in each grip.

Fatbars taper down to the same 7/8" as regular bars.

I didn't think they varied the thickness for the throttle tube, but did you try swapping sides?

I use epoxy, never had to use the wire. Grips 61865

Renthal Grip Glue will practically cause molecular fusion between the grip and the bar. And, it's guaranteed to do it .8 seconds before you're finished sliding the grips onto the bar so you have about 1/8th inch of the grip hanging off the end of the bar and it will not slide any further...lol
