| my second bike ... I bought it with a little over 1000 miles on it in the spring of 1977 sold it to my friend the following spring with just shy of 6000 miles on the clock. This is what inspires me. I had the most fun exploring the surrounding county's roads and trails around the Michigan city I grew up in. | |

| OK, I'm coming to terms with an R. My main concern is its roadability... I've got a 30 to 50 mile ride before I'm anywhere near trails. Granted depending on the route there are a lot of twisty roads in getting there. SheWolf said : Get the R, Indy. It's like your old XL on steroids. oh ya... Tires? Now I have to research tires. Hmmm. | |

| Indigo, I've been known to ride 100-150 miles before getting to trails on the R, depending on how spunky I'm feeling. Before I got a truck, I even rode 220 miles of pavement to get to an offroad event. It was 35 degrees and raining the whole time, too. Sucked, but the point is that the R does just fine on the road. I commute on it 30 miles of highway every day, at 70-75 mph without issue. Yesterday, we had 50 mph crosswinds. The R sure does a lot better in the wind than my old KLR did... | |

Tires? Now I have to research tires. Hmmm. Talk to skierd...he's had two R's and road across country doing LOTS of highway miles. It's his only mode of transportation and he lives in Baltimore, Md. Asphalt jungle to be sure. _________________ 2008 WR250X Gearing: 13t - 48t Power Commander 5 / PC-V Airbox Door Removed - Flapper glued - AIS removed FmF Q4 Bridgestone Battlax BT-003rs

| I have no doubts in its abilities to get me to the trails. My XL175 proved to me what a bike like that can do. I'm the type that will throw caution to the wind and take off for the Midwest states just for the adventure. I've read the ride reports of Skierd and others. Maybe I'm obsessing over this. Just thinking ahead... maybe a little to far. Tires... I'd have a couple thousand miles to figure out what I reeeaaally need, a couple mods when it isn't riding weather, stuff like that... ya I'm obsessing. | |
