Shinko 244's or 700's on an X??

OK, looking at new shoes for the X. The Shinko website states that the 700's are 60% dirt and 40% street. The 244's do not have a ranking. The 705's are 80% street and 20% dirt. I am currently runing the 705's which are OK, but don't head out in the sand or mud. It's all over at that point. I probably should have bought an "R" vs the "X" but oh well I'm stuck with it now. I can't swing an extra set of wheels, too much coin.
I don't see what the difference is between the 700's and the 244's. I see a few people here have/are running the 244's and like them. What about the 700's?
My riding is mostly two lane blacktop roads, gravel roads, two tracks and some single track. Probably 50/50 between the blacktop and gravel roads. Three or four long weekends in Northern MI riding trails, single track, power lines, ect.

Looks to me that the 244's are not front/rear specific where as the 700's are. The 700's info states that the side luggs are reinforced for cornering stability. Can anyone explain what the characteristic differences that are needed for the front/rear tires?

I put the 244's on my X. I love them. They are 10 x better than the stock tires in the softer/ looser terrain. You still gotta be careful in the sand and mud, but its not like driving on ice like the street tires. On the road they took some getting used to. They respond a little differently, but I am hitting corners just as fast with them now. The front tire is pretty fat, so that is probably why it handles a little differently. I got 5.1 rear, 4.6 front.

I just bought a 244 for the front and a 700 for the rear of my R. The knobbs that were on my bike when I bought it used just won't hold up to the pavement I have to cross to get to dirt. After I mount them and put some miles on I'll give feedback.

Got the 700 out on a trail today. I was not impressed. Maybe I should of aired down more but it seemed to lack bite in hard dirt, roots or mud. The 244 I have on the front seemed fine but it doesn't do so much so not sure if it would be OK as a rear. On the street the 700 works decent.
