I need to remove the stock chain on my 2009 WR250X. Does the stock chain have a master link or do I just randomly pick a link and grind down the pins until it falls off?

I just used some decent sized bolt cutters on mine.

No master link on stock chain.

How you get it off is up to your own creativity. wink

I used a Dremel and ground the pins flush then used a punch to drive them out. This way you can use a masterlink in place if you ever want the old chain again.

I didn't cut anything. I just took it off when I did my gearing change and rear suspension re-grease. No swingarm, no problem.

I second the idea of combining two jobs:
1- Take swingarm off and service bearings and grease shafts
2- While swingarm is off you can remove the chain without having to break it apart.

Should take not much more than an hour and a half, so maybe just a two beer job.

Mine took 10 days but that's cause I sent the rear shock to FBI while I had it apart ;)

*edit* it should be noted that the 10 days was not due to FBI but UPS.
