alps, alps, alps! (and other random pictures)

Just some pictures of two trips I took in the alps. The first one was in October. 700 km, 400 of which on the autobahn, 200 twisty alpine passes and 100 off road. 10 hours riding. Bike never skipped a beat.









Second trip done 2 days ago. 900 km, 400 autobahn, 350 twisty passes and 150 off road. 14 hours riding. again bike didn't skip a beat. What a dream machine

Servus! Yeah I didn't register it yet in Germany so I'm driving around with italian license and papers

but ssshhh don't want the police coming after me.


Actually I think I'm still okay cuz I haven't changed my residence yet, want to first take my car license in Italy, then I'll register it up properly

Nice. I kinda miss the alps, especially those winding roads. Living in the Rockies now.

one always misses/wants what one doesn't have. For example I'm jealous when I see the huge deserted plains in the US making for fabulous off roading. But one can only accept what one can get, so I wont complain about the alps

Just amazing passes everywhere, and if you know where to look, you can find some pretty awesome (legal) offroading.

Rockies look great though btw

I remember a wouderfull road from a neigbour village to Garmish towards pöking/ Munich that i have been dreamin about for a long time. May be you know that one ?

Did you ride around this area? Or how do you know it?
You mean coming from Starnberger See going southwards towards the alps? Not sure exactly what road you mean but there are many many awesome twisty roads in that region

Also worthy to check out is the Fränkische Schweiz near Nürnberg about 200 km north of munich! thank god for the autobahn to get to all the nice places quickly

I was a bit disappointed by the area just around Munich, its very flat and pretty much all straight roads, farmland everywhere. But I managed to find some ok places around the corner where I can ride during the week like this:

still on the weekend when I don't have too much to study I'm always off south towards the alps. Leave in the morning with absolutely no idea where I will end up, just picking the twisty road after twisty road!

I stayed some time in Munich in a friends family back in the early 90’s

Ah that's interesting! I walk by the Max Planck institute every morning
I study Maschinenwesen at the TU München. What a coincidence haha

bike is nicely parked in the garage now for winter. Thought I'd share some pictures I took riding around and exploring off road areas back at home in italy. These were taken in late september.

It hadn't rained all summer, it then poured for 2 days straight. Some of them (the muddy ones were taken the day after the thunderstorms). Needless to say I encountered plenty of flooded trails hard getting through with badly worn TW!





I know the picture below doesn't look that steep on camera, but I had the most terrible time making it back up. The rocks were loose because of the rain, couldn't get any grip. Even had a hard time walking up. Took me 2 hours to wrestle the bike up

This is on my bucket list.

Take a month and start in Munich and go south through Austria, France, Italy.
