| I run 14/49 with 112 links, i bought a 120 link chain and took 8 links out, so that's 112 right? | |

| If anything the 112 might be a little long. Which means removing a link or three. I have a 112 link chain and I run 13/48. The 112 was a perfect length for my set up. For sure the chain won't be too short if that's what you're worried about. I'd rather cut links off than add them. (for the life of me I struggle to understand why anyone runs a 14t on the front with these bikes) _________________ 2008 WR250X Gearing: 13t - 48t Power Commander 5 / PC-V Airbox Door Removed - Flapper glued - AIS removed FmF Q4 Bridgestone Battlax BT-003rs

| yeah, im just trying to find an ideal combo for my sm set while im commuting. right now i have 13/48 as well, but on my mx wheels... ive already got a 110 link, im just curious if i could get away with keeping the same chain while swapping. | |

(for the life of me I struggle to understand why anyone runs a 14t on the front with these bikes) Because some of us have both sets of wheels, and there is a BIG difference in the rear tire outer diameter. I put a 49 tooth rear sprocket on the dirt wheel, that gearing (13 front) is perfect for me. To use the same chain length (112 links) with the supermoto wheels, and have the same or slightly higher gearing, I'm trying +1 on the front sprocket, -4 on the rear. It's easy to check how the gearing changes and wheel/tire sizes affect top speed using the Gearing Commander tool. The tool also shows the affect on wheelbase (how much rear wheel moves forward/backward with sprocket and chain length changes.)

Sprockets should arrive next week, I'll report back after installation/text.

(for the life of me I struggle to understand why anyone runs a 14t on the front with these bikes) Its really not as bad as you think. With stock tires you can't really even feel a difference on the road. 1st still lasts like 1 second and 6th still pulls about the same. Zero detectable chain noise and I never heard the chain slap with a 14 on (I hear it a lot at low rpms high throttle with the 13, even with a tight chain) When I switched to 705s though, that extra tire height broke the camels back. I would only suggest a 14 for the stock tires. In fact, due to the height and extra weight, I would say stock tires with a 14 feels about the same as 13 with the shinkos. Next change I do, I'm going to buy a rear and chain that will allow me to put the 14 back on while going down to stock gearing.
