| I was riding in mud, lost control and my bike slid along the ground and did this. (sorry about the bad pic). Lucky it's summer soon when the mud turns to sand and we ride on the beach. Do you guys think it's fixable if so how? Or should I get a new one? What is the price for a new one and it's graphics? (will need graphics for both sides) Thank's for any help. | |

| In the US it is roughly $50 for the side scoop and roughly $45 a side for the graphics. Around $150 or so... Not sure about your prices in that part of the world. | |

| I would oppoxy it up while I waited for the plastics to come in. Maybe it will last awhile. This is what I did. Granted, there is going to be a lot more pressure on your tab then there is on my light. Opoxy may not work. *how many ways can i spell apoxy and still not get it right? | |

| Simply solder it with a soldering gun with a flat iron in it. You will first glue the parts together and then even out the rough spots... | |

"e" Epoxy. I think JB Weld or the like would work fine, but there are a few plastic specific epoxies out there that would have better flexibility and match the stock plastics properties better. Check an auto parts or good hardware store in their adhesives section

| Hey Sam I am getting my Blue plastics from the USA - I can get nearly an entire blue kit for the price of one shroud here in Australia! Maybe you need to go Blue while the wait for white and yellow goes on? | |

Maybe you need to go Blue while the wait for white and yellow goes on? Hey Lance any pics of your damaged plastics I havn't heard of anyone needing a whole new set before you must of done a fair bit of damage. Yeah the plastics are a rip off here but the 2010 WRX's are white in the US so I might be able to get the plastics cheep. Which shop/site did you order your's from. As for graphics I will proberly get aftermarket ones. Thanks

| My Plastics havent snapped like yours but they are covered in a huge amount of serious scratches - do I need to replace them for anything but asthetics - no
withthe sticker kit from D&D coming I will have trouble especially on the edges keeping them on the plastics - so for what is all of about 180 bucks I am replacing the shrouds front fender front light shroud all for less than a single shroud here at home!
Plastics from here http://www.xtremeusa.com/fiche_section_detail.asp?section=1049645&category=Motorcycles&make=YAMAHA&year=2009&fveh=28574

| Thanks for the website Lance! I recently lost my side plastics on the airbox side due to that shitty little bracket coming loose....GRRRR I hate that bracket! They wanted nearly $80 for it in Aus and a 2-3 week wait for it to come from Japan...8-10 working days from that website and all for less than $35. Little ripper! | |

| Hey Max glad to help out - yep amazing prices in Oz!!!! and when they rock up here - exactly the same the genuine deal for less than a third of the price!!! Havent found where you can get white plastics from yet - but working on that if anyone knows. Moving back home soon to SW of WA too and then maybe to Melbourne - be great to ride some dirt, mud and sand hills as opposed to these damn hard rocks which have trashed every bit of plastic I have :) | |

| Krabill got white plastics, but I'm not sure if he got them from the dealer or where. He wanted an all white bike to match his Safari tank. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

| As soon as I can come up with the $$ for the tickets, and all the stuff I want to buy when I'm there. I have a friend who lives in Rocky who keeps bugging me to come visit and bring one of her Staffie pups back here to Canada. _________________ A wolf's voice echoed down the mountain 'Share the bounty of the hunt with your brothers and sisters, and forever be strong and free.' | |

| You guys wouldnt come here from the northern regions... there are way too many spiders, snakes, sharks, jelly fish, drop bears, kangaroos and a whole host of other things that could bring you unstuck. Plus you would have to endure instant coffee (blend 43 ) vegemite on toast for brekkie, snags burnt on the BBQ to a blackness only found in deep space and copius amounts of beer!!! | |

Your right there Lance just last weekend when riding my WRR I got off it only to find I had parked next to a 2m dugite . I have also had eagles fly out in front of me requiring full emergancy breaking and don't even get me started on emu's. Back on topic the plastic has held up ok and I have left it as it is.

| I've looked into a trip to Australia, well actually I was researching a round-the-world trip, but the biggest hurdle is shipping the bike. Freight costs are prohibitively expensive... | |

| Got three more spots of broken plastics on my bike. Going to try the frankenstien stitching again since it is holding up so well on the tail piece. One of the spots I'm not sure if I'll leave it like it is yet or not. I'll need advice on that one as soon as I can take a picture. | |

| PTex... Stop by the ski shop and pick your color.
Rough-up the fractured area, IPA (acetone also works) wipe, finish surface as required using an appropriate tool (Exacto knife etc).

| ^^Hey that looks pretty cool. Someone needs to try that. I didn't see it until too late. *I love this thread!! WRRSAM, does this look familiar? I actually have fun with this kind of fixing. Made the epoxy a little different this time. Seemed to be setting up a lot quicker so thought I could do both sides in one night. Wrong! Next time I'll remember to do it in 2 if not three parts. Doh! [/QUOTE] *decided to go with the "x" this time. Messed up and didn't want to do it all over. That's why the tripple and single X instead of a string. Maybe it would have been cooler to have 3 seperate X"s? Hahaha **sorry for the pictures, hard to get a close up. | |

WRRSAM, does this look familiar? . No the tab on my plastic is still attached. The plastic has bent back (digging into dirt) and pulled away from the bike cracking the plastic around the tab.

| PLASTIC REPAIR ---
Have used West's Systems Gflex epoxy to repair my plastics including: broken front fender, right &left tank shrouds. http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/producte/10001/-1/10001/281504?&cid=chanintel&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=281504 Gflex cures flexible and is made to adhere to most plastics. Follow the directions. For the fender, I beafed up the repair with come fiberglass mat. Granted the $20 price for the 4 oz bottle isn't cheap, but I've only used 1/2 the bottle for repairing the parts instead of spending over $60 for replacemetns. Also don't have to worry about scratching the new plastics.... :-}
