| So far I haven't met anyone harder on their WR250R than I am. Some of the nastiest single track with boulders trails bikes would fear have fallen beneath my trusty little Yammy with it's tireballs and giant aluminum bashplate. Well, this weekend was no different, some of the most amazing jaw dropping single track I've ever found was ridden, and with it some sections requiring the use of the bashplate to negotiate tight sections. For the first time I did some damage, flattening the brake pedal. I'm just thankful it didn't hit anything else. Thank you skidplate! You can see the gash the rock left in the plate on the bottom right of the picture, and the mangled brake pedal on the left. Should I just try to straighten it out or buy a new pedal? All's fun in the California sun... :) | |

| Nice! Love the carnage photo.
It is steel, you can straighten it pretty easily, but might not fold nicely ever again. Probably not a huge expense to replace it.

| Yep, I bent it back into shape. The weld on the back side is broken part of the way as you can see from the photo, so one more hit and it'll probably shear off. I'll just see how much a new one is to be safe. Without a rear brake you can usually do ok with 1st gear but some downhills are so brutal you need to turn the engine off and use the clutch as a brake... :)
I'm just REALLY glad the part behind the skidplate (oil filter cover, coolant pump?) didn't get smashed to bits. The protection this bike comes stock with is a joke off road...

| A few people have asked me this, and I honestly don't know. I wear Sidi half-boots, so maybe my foot just bounced and I didn't notice it? Or maybe my leg was up to balance myself through a rocky section? Came to quite a sudden stop though, that's for sure...
People have also commented that it looks like a laser blast on the side of a spaceship in Star Wars... :)

| Lake Isabella. Some of the best I've ever found, and I still haven't begun to reach all of it. Depends on your skill level as to where you want to start... | |
