What is this? it is loose

What the heck is this thing? It is very loose after i changed out handlebars.  I don't know if i broke a clip or what. I have no idea what it is. It plugs into the clutch lever assembly.
Now it will not stay in.

IIRC from when I rerouted my handlebar cabling:
There's a small protrusion on the outside diameter of the switch body, which you must align with a hole in the clutch lever body, and it then snaps into place for retention.
