Do you guys follow manufacturer recommendations on changing timing belts on your trucks and cars?

No.

My last civic had 300000 miles on it with the original timing belt I sold it because the car rusted out, it still ran fine lol.

depends what it is and if its an interference engine or not. mitsubishi or subaru definately. had a mitsu magna (diamante for you us and euro folks) and so many horror stories of guys leaving timing belts and 130,000km BANG (due at 100k km), subarus are the same. in both those make sure you do w/pump and stuff at the same time, expense now to save expense and headaches later.
