I think you can go up one or down one on the front sprocket and keep the stock chain, but once you change the rear you have to get a new chain, from the old days if I can remember one tooth on the front equals 3 on the rear for gearing, from what I have read if you go 13 front 47 rear you may need a 112 link chain, Im sure someone will chime in here and prove me wrong, cheer`s
