Ohlins for WRR/X?

Just saw this the other day (get google to translate if you cant read japanese):

Looks like they are developing it now, and it's not quite ready for release. This is very good though! Hopefully it will be available here, and at a decent price. It looks like it will be at least $1000, though. I wish we could just buy a decent shock for these bikes. I am getting close to sending mine out to GO RACE, as I'm tiring of riding a pogo stick. The forks, while not the greatest, are a hell of a lot more serviceable than the thing they call a shock.

I remember a while back reading that Elka was willing to do a custom shock for our bikes if we could get enough people interested in purchasing them. From what I remember the shock would be around$650 and they needed 10-12 people to commit. I think this would be a much better shock than re-valving the stocker. Does anyone else remember this?

I remember seeing this and I could not find it in the US. So I emailed the US Distributor and he told me that Ohlins did not have a shock for the WR250R.

Indeed Ohlins doesn't produce a rear-shock for the WRR/X "per-se". (unfortunately. cos they do make one for the DRZ & for the CRF-L... but not for the WRR).

only Hyperpro produce an "official" aftermarket rear shock for the Yamaha WRR/X, that is in their catalogue.

BUT there are some licensed Ohlins distributers & workshops, all around the world, that will build you a custom-made Ohlins rear shock (based on the Ohlins S46PR1C2 model, or the S46PR1C1 model).

the Ohlins shock that is in the photo above - is a "PFP S46PR1C2 Ohlins" rear shock (Part # YA8820PFP) that I have purchased from Motoblouz.com for a bit more than 700USD.

By the way, in the past, before Ohlins came up with their modern TTX shock system - this "S46PR1C2 type" was the main Ohlins shock for most of 250cc enduro & mx motorcycles:

Feels very much like a someone took a Showa rear shock out of a crf250r and fitted it on the WRR.
Very firm. very impressive. It tracks well in corners and settles into ruts/cracks on the trail, easily. even at very high speeds.
It does not bottom out upon harsh or flat landings either. In addition since i installed it, I never had the rear kick out on me, or do anything unusual when faced with braking bumps in corners or on big downhills.

More over: "acceleration bumps" prove to be the same story. the rear end just refuses to kick or swap out, and I am able to get a great drive when i am exiting a corner (for exemple), even at high speeds.

Can you tell me where you purchased your shock? Was it customized? How much? I have a 2008 WRR and am looking for a new rear shock. I just rebuilt the stock and even fresh it's just no good. Thanks!
