I've started dialogue with ProMoto Billet, manufacturer of the Fastway EVO3 pegs & other off-road parts, about a group buy for one of their custom kickstands for our WR250R's. They do not currently make one for the WRR, and would not be able to make one, unless we can order more than a few. Their kickstands are light weight options for off-road bikes that usually have no kickstands. Seeing as our WR250R is commonly taken off-road, these would be a good option for our bikes. They have detents that lock the stand in position, rather than springs, and offer a clean and obstruction free install. Due to their construction, these will easily shave off a few pounds from our bikes, and stop that annoying springy bouncing sound when on the trail. I have not weighed the OEM side stand, but I can see that it uses a substantial amount of steel in it's construction, and would estimate that it weighs about 5lbs. (probably more considering the passenger pegs alone are 1.7lbs). These stands weigh an average of 2lbs, depending on application. You can view a sample of one of their similar kickstands here:

The conclusion that has been reached is the following:
Promoto Billet will agree to design and manufacture these stands if we can get together a group buy of 80 or more. They claim that full stage R&D to production costs around $8,000, hence the large purchase requirement. They will offer a $5.00 discount for the group buy, and they will be priced at $159.95. (They are doing a price increase on the entire line in a few weeks)
They will be available in naked silver for the regular price, and can be anodized black or other colors for $25 each.
*In order to make an X model, their rep stated that they would need double the amount of orders. Although, based on the fact that only the length is different, that could probably be negotiated if we can gain enough interest in them. If you are interested in either X or R, put your name down anyways, with model preference please.
These are high quality stands that have gotten great reviews, and frequently see off-road use. This will be a proven solution for eliminating that last piece of boat anchor from our bikes. For people looking to shave the last few pounds off their bikes, these would be a great option.
