Question on installing new Q4 muffler only.

I have a 2011 WR250R.

I will be installing one of these soon and leaving on the stock header pipe.

I have two questions:


1. Do I need to install a computer programmer?

2. When I remove the stock muffler, I notice there is a wire attached. What do I do with this wire?

Any help is appreciated.

1. The bike will run without a programmer, but throttle response and performance is noticeably better with one.

2. Sounds like the EXUP valve control cables.
Disconnect them from both the muffler and the electric servo motor that controls them.
Leave the servo motor plugged in to it's electrical connector.
