Too much oil on air filter?

Hi guys just did my first air filter cleaning - oiled and reinstalled! I was just curious what could happen if you put an air filter back in with too much oil? I dont believe I did but the thought just crossed my mind as I was waiting for the filter to get a bit tacky before installing! Thanks - like always you are all very helpful!

It would restrict air flow causing a richer mixture and if bad enough cause a loss of power.

Or not start at all which is exactly what happened to me this past week. I had to dry out my filter and it fired right up.
